The following explains the programs funded and organized by Bagby’s Home & School Club. Some committees just need a chairperson, others need that and volunteers. Please join us at Home & School Club Meetings held the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the cafeteria and learn more! Free childcare is provided for potty-trained children 2 years old and older.

 

  • Asset Building Champions (ABC) is a YMCA Project Cornerstone program in which adults learn to create positive connection with their own children and youth in the community. Volunteers in each classroom read specially selected books and lead activities that help teach students valuable lessons.
  • Accelerated Reading (AR): On-line program that tests a student’s knowledge of books they read. Points are earned, depending on the complexity of the book. Students are recognized at student assemblies as milestones are reached.
  • Activity Day: An afternoon event consisting of two 40-minute workshops for all students, led by parents and other members of the community. Workshops have included topics such as the arts, drama, sports, science and careers.
  • After School Enrichment: Optional program offered on a succession of Wednesdays after school. There can be two or more sessions. Classes vary from art, drama, sports, science and more. There is a charge for this program, price varies.
  • Annual Giving Campaign: Plan, organize & manage the direct donation campaign.
  • Art Vistas: Parent led classroom art program. A trained Coordinator trains volunteers for each classroom
  • Bagby Gear: Manage the ordering and sale of Bagby clothing
  • Boxtops: Organize the collection and counting of Box Tops and Labels for Education.
  • CEF (Cambrian Educational Foundation) Representative: Nonprofit umbrella organization that involves all five Cambrian District schools.
  • Crab Feed: Annual parent night out. Dinner, Raffle, Auction & Dance. Funds raised are used to maintain technology.
  • Display Case/DO (District Office) Board Room: Create monthly display of student work at the district board room.
  • Family Dinner Night: Schedule regular fundraisers at various local restaurants
  • Family Movie Night: Early in the school year. Outside movie in the field.
  • Schoolwide Family Event: Work with a committee to organize this community event for Bagby students and their families.
  • Field Day: Organize events, coordinate volunteers and facilitate this end of the year celebration.
  • 5th Grade Pool Party: Host the end of the year 5th Grade pool party.
  • 5th Grade Promotion: Organize the event at the end of the year for 5th Grade Students.
  • Garden: Organize and care for the garden. Hold regular lunchtime activities in the garden for the students.
  • Halloween Fun Night (HFN): Plan, coordinate and publicize the largest school community event and one of our top two fundraisers. Volunteers are also needed to chair sub-committees such as donations, food, raffle tickets, ticket and wristband sales, games, and auctions to name a few.
  • Hospitality: Organize coffee and treats for the first day of school and water and cookies for the first HSC meeting.
  • Ice Cream Social: Organize, purchase supplies, and staff this community-building event where the HSC provides free ice cream to all who attend.
  • Marquee: Maintain the marquee dates and announcements at the front of the school.
  • Mileage Club: Organize volunteers and coordinate the lunchtime walking club.
  • Room Parent Coordinator: Recruit room parents, communicate responsibilities, and provide materials as needed.
  • School Supplies: Coordinate with teachers to create grade level supply lists and distribute information to the participating stores.
  • STEAM Fair: Plan and coordinate the 2-day event. Distribute instruction folders to students, order supplies, communicate with teachers, coordinate volunteers, and supervise the event.
  • Scrip: Over see the purchase and sale of Scrip. Order and pick up Scrip, maintain accurate account balances, publish bank statements and schedule Scrip sale volunteers.
  • Staff Appreciation: Organizes lunches for the teachers a few times per year
  • Variety Show: Coordinate and publicize a student variety show. Hold audition and rehearsal. Schedule and coordinate volunteers. Direct the show.

  • Yearbook: Take and/or collect pictures at school events, work with students to create a yearbook, publicize and collect orders, and work with the publishing company to complete the book.
